The Buccaneers booked their spot in the semi-finals after defeating Polokwane City in the quarter-finals two weeks ago.
Since then, Pirates have not enjoyed the best of starts to Betway Premiership after suffering back-to-back defeats to Sekhukhune United and Marumo Gallants in the last seven days.
Sundowns, meanwhile, made light work of Richards Bay in the last round after cruising to a 4-0 victory.
In the league, Miguel Cardoso’s side started the campaign with a 1-1 draw against Chippa United last weakened before they defeated AmaZulu FC 2-0 on Tuesday night.
When these two sides met last season, Sundowns claimed a 4-1 win at Loftus Versfeld before the Buccaneers secured a 2-1 victory in the reverse fixture at FNB Stadium.
